Mary Street Dental is a family-oriented dental practice, and we all particularly enjoy seeing children. We highly recommend children have their first dental visit soon after their first tooth emerges.
Why See a Dentist so Soon?
Although this initial visit might seem very young, it is never too soon to begin good preventative dental care. These early visits are an excellent opportunity for children to become accustomed to all the new sights, sounds and smells in a dental practice and for us to get to know them and their parents. Also, we firmly believe in dental education and frequently work with parents, showing them how to look after their young child’s teeth. As children get older, we can teach them directly, so they grow up learning proper oral care techniques.
Is It Possible to Prevent Tooth Decay in Children?
Cavities are common, but they are preventable, and there is a great deal we can do to ensure your child’s teeth remain strong and healthy, hopefully well into adulthood. We can assess your child’s risk of tooth decay during their regular dental examinations and suggest appropriate treatments and preventative care to help reduce this risk.
Can You Help Anxious or Fearful Children?
Visiting the dentist can be overwhelming for some children, but our dental team are extremely gentle, treating children as if they were our own. We have a lot of techniques that can help even the most nervous child to feel more comfortable in the dental chair. If your child is anxious or nervous, please talk to our friendly staff and discover how we can assist your child.
